BIT's 5th Anniversary Congress of International Drug Discovery Science and Technology, Event II: Advances and Challenges Toward Major Disease, hosted by Biteomics Inc. was held during Nov7-13, 2007 in Xi'an anD Beijing, Keynote forum plus fifteen scientific sessions, poster and project exhibition has been held successfully. Over 300 distinguished scientists and researchers from home and abroad, including the Vice President-Executive Director from Merck, Former Chairman and CEO of Human Genome Sciences, Pfizer Inc, USA, University of Tokyo, Wyeth, Duke University Medical Center, CAS, CAE, UCSF at Xi'an Grand New World Hotel, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the drug discovery Conference.
BIT's 5th Anniversary Congress of International Drug Discovery Science and Technology, Event II: Advances and Challenges Toward Major Disease which has been successfully held five times since 2003 is an important opportunity for leading chemists, pharmacologists, biotechnologists, and other allied professionals to discuss and present the latest important developments. This year's conference had attracted leading academic professionals and industrial executives from more than 28 countries covering the topics, i.e. anti-cancer drug discovery, CNS Drug Discovery, RNAi technology, drug screening technology, Emerging Biomarkers & Drug Targets and etc. The unusual character of this meeting reflected the point of view of China roles for Global Drug Innovations.
At the opening ceremony and Keynote Forum, Dr. Chao Chen who is Director of National Engineering Research Center for Miniaturized Detection Systems, China hosted the conference, and Dr. Richard R. Ernst, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemist-ry 1991 , Dr. Aaron Ciechanover, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry in 2004 , Dr. Bharatt M. Chowrira, Vice President, Sirna Therapeutics, Executive Director, Worldwide Licensing & External Research, Merck and Co., Inc., USA and Dr. William A. Haseltine, Former Chairman and CEO of Human Genome Sciences, USA gave the excellent plenary lectures. Over one hundred and sixty Speakers at the conference offered a rich range of views on the current and nature drug discovery, which is unparalleled in providing timely information and relevant strategies for academic and industrial scientists on how to expand access to innovative pharmaceutical process, while complying with the potential project collaboration, product exhibition and social activities.

| All the participants appreciated the efforts by the organizers. They were enthusiastic with their evaluations. "This was the best conference that I have been to all year!" said most. Overwhelmingly, conference participants appreciated the high level of presentations. Solid suggestions were offered about how to improve the organization of round table discussions in the future. Many good suggestions of topics for skills building workshops for 2008's agenda were also given. |
