BIT's 8th International Drug Discovery Science and Technology (IDDST), held in Beijing International Convention Center on October 23-26, achieved a consummation. The theme of this conference is "Supporting Systems for Major Innovative Drugs". Over 500 honored guests presented at the ceremony and gave brilliant speeches on invitation, among them are Mr. Liu Yanguo, Deputy Director, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs; Mrs. Peng Yu, Director-General of China Medicinal Biotech Association; Mr. Liu Hailin, Deputy Director-General of China Medicinal Biotech Association; Dr. Xiaodan Mei, the Executive Chair of IDDST-2009, President of BIT Life Sciences; Dr. Erwin Neher, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine 1991, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Germany; Dr. Christian Amatore, Director of the Research Unit “PASTEUR”, CNS Full Professor, CNRS, ENS and UPMC, France; Dr. Bertil Lindmark, Vice President and Head, Clinical Division, AstraZeneca KK, Japan; Dr. Steve Yang, Vice President and Head of R&D in Asia, Pfizer, USA; Dr. Andreas Tschirky, Leader of BioDuro, A PPD® Company, China. More than 800 world-renowned experts, professors, laboratory principals, project leaders and representatives of well-known enterprises attended the conference.
This annual congress comprised 10 Chapters and 73 sections following the ceremony, including “Basic Sciences and Technologies of Drug Discovery”; “Emerging New Technologies and Key Platform Infrastructure for New Drug Discovery”; “Advances in Anti-Major Disease Drug R & D”; “Smart Medicinal Chemistry toward NCEs”…etc. Meanwhile, A huge success has been achieved by BIT science in hosting IDDST annual congress in Beijing which also supported by AstraZeneca and BioDuro.
This annual conference, brought together nearly 800 specialists from 40 countries and areas, was devoted to the leading issues and popular topics and provide up-to-date information to all over the world. On the other hand, the meeting provided a brilliant information platform for domestic researchers to communicate with international experts and pushed forward the drug discovery development.
According to the investigation after the conference, most of our participants expressed that they would like to attend IDDST in the next year. Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are quite confident in organizing IDDST-2011 which would be better and more successful than IDDST-2010.
